INTRODUCTION

Low Walworth Hall is approached along a mile drive through farm land and finally sweeps up to the main house past the hard tennis court and a beautiful holly hedge. This quite exceptional country house sits well in its own land with views over the formal gardens which form a major part of the charm of Low Walworth Hall.

The gardens have been open to the public until recently and are a delight. To the north is the old walled garden where mellow brick walls support espalier fruit trees and shaped lawns are interspersed with rose beds and shrubs including tree peonies. There is an ornamental pond, once a trout hatchery, fed from an artesian well and against the entire length of the northern wall stands a soft fruit cage. Beyond the walled garden is the old kitchen garden with a greenhouse and potting shed. The centre of the old walled garden was once set out as a grass tennis court.

In front of the house is the main lawned garden; at the bottom is a second pond overhung by weeping willows and home to a variety of water plants. The lawns are bound by a stone ha-ha at the edge of the paddock area with a central shrubbery. To the east of the house stands a detached timber clad pool house with an indoor heated swimming pool, Jacuzzi and sauna.

The house provides the perfect family accommodation with a large panelled dining room and a very comfortable sitting room with a large open fireplace. The drawing room is situated on the mezzanine floor and is believed to have a fully sprung wooden dance floor. The study is a comfortable refuge with a small open fireplace and the kitchen breakfast room was re-fitted a few years ago to an exceptionally high standard with a large larder/utility room just off. The cellars are a delight to any wine enthusiast with stone storage bins and plenty of space. They also house the old gun room and a large second laundry room with an oiled fired boiler and providing plenty of space for drying laundry/horse rugs.
