The village of West Harptree lies approximately fifteen miles south of Bristol and less than one mile from Chew Valley Lake. It is well known for its convenient location in the lea of the Mendip Hills and Bristol and Bath are easily reached by road with the journey taking only 30-40 minutes. A mile to the south is the sister village of East Harptree in the Mendip Hills, an area of outstanding beauty and perfect for recreation with the whole of the Chew Valley centre ground literally on the doorstep of the property.

Unlike many villages in the Chew Valley, West Harptree still has a thriving busy village stores with post office, bakery, as well as a village Inn, Church and a beauty parlour. A short walk leads to the doctors/dentists surgery. The nearby villages of East Harptree, Ubley and Chew Stoke have primary schools and a daily school bus transports children to Chew Valley Secondary School which is located between Chew Stoke and Chew Magna.

Few villages have such to offer and still be within easy reach of both the City of Bristol and Bath. The City of Wells can also be reached to the south, about eleven miles distance and many people use this smaller city for Tesco's shopping and other needs.

Chew Valley is unique in the West Country, comprising some thirty five thousand acres of unspoilt and protected countryside which occupies the middle ground of the Bath, Bristol and Wells triangle. Dominating the scene are the Chew Valley and Blagdon Lakes, notable for their fishing, birdlife, sailing and nature study amenities. The villages in the Valley are all unspoilt and each has its individual charm and character. Only seven miles to the north of the Chew Valley is the City of Bristol, the West Country's financial and business centre, whilst the charming City of Bath with its Roman origins and Georgian architectural masterpieces is under half an hour's drive to the East. On the southern side of the Mendips is the historic City of Wells, England's smallest, with its ancient Cathedral.

The region is well served by excellent Inter City Rail Links and the M4/M5 links to the rest of the Country. Bristol Airport is located at Lulsgate about seven miles south-west from the centre of Bristol.
