SITUATION
Dittisham is a picturesque Devon village located in one of the finest locations in the South Hams on the beautiful River Dart. The village is highly popular with those who participate in waterborne activities and has a thriving sailing club within a short walk from the property. Local amenities include a historic church, village store, post office, two public houses and popular caf. Dartmouth Golf and Country Club is within four miles.
Dartmouth is six miles away at the mouth of the estuary and is renowned for its deep safe harbour and marine facilities. There are first class yacht marinas at Dartmouth and Kingswear and many deep-water moorings nearby. The Yacht Clubs of Dartmouth and Kingswear maintain a full racing schedule throughout the year, culminating with the Royal Regatta at the end of August. Dartmouth also boasts a fantastic range of quality shops and restaurants as well as an arts centre.
The South Hams is a unique area worthy of its national status as a designated 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' with river estuaries, rolling hills and thatched cottages surrounding historic towns. Dartmoor National Park lies to the north and the award winning beaches of Blackpool Sands and the nature reserve of Slapton Ley lie to the south. If travel and commuting are important to you, Exeter has a regional airport, Plymouth a ferry terminal and Totnes a mainline rail service with links to London and throughout the UK.
DESCRIPTION
Manor Cottage is a Delightful Grade II listed detached period cottage dating from the 16th century and beautifully cared for by the current owner, who for the last 25 years has preserved the warmth and character of one of Dittisham's oldest properties. Internally the accommodation is attractively presented rich in history and craftsmanship that defines older properties, from the stone spiral staircase to the magnificent open fireplace. Alterations and improvements have been carried out over the years and Manor Cottage has managed to incorporate these effortlessly into its make-up. In the early spring when the flower beds are awash with colour and the Wisteria that drapes across the entrance way is in full bloom, there is arguably no finer image that encapsulates not only the beauty and magic of the cottage but of Dittisham itself.
An internal viewing is highly recommended to truly appreciate the special nature of this idyllic cottage.
