Description:

A rare opportunity to purchase a beautifully situated smallholding comprising a well maintained detached period Cumberland farmhouse together with adjoining barn, garages and a range of agricultural buildings set in approximately 13.5 acres of sound grazing land, occupying a magnificent rural location in the Lake District National Park with breathtaking mountain and sea views. Well placed for the West Cumbrian coastal towns, Wast Water and Broughton-in-Furness.

Description

SUMMARY

Glebe Farm is an attractive detached stone and slate built period farmhouse occupying a beautiful West Cumbrian location with stunning views of the Lakeland Fells and of the Irish Sea towards the Isle of Man.

The main farmhouse has been upgraded and improved by the current owners to create a comfortable, nicely presented family home with spacious, well planned accommodation installed with oil fired central heating and upvc double glazing. A substantial barn adjoins the main house featuring a rare carved stone 'coffin cover' used as a lintel. The barn provides extensive storage space and has excellent potential for converting into additional living accommodation, subject to requisite consents being obtained.

The farm includes two substantial agricultural buildings of approximately 140sq.m. [1500sq.ft] and 108sq.m [1170sq.ft] respectively together with ancillary stores and two open fronted garages.

The farmhouse is set within approximately 13.5 acres of sound grazing land comprising five fenced and hedged enclosures. The property is approached via quiet country lanes between the fells and the sea. Adjacent to the property is a petty church. The village of Bootle is approximately two miles away and the attractive town of Broughton-in-Furness, with its famous Georgian Square, can be reached by a spectacular fifteen minute drive over Corney Fell.

The property is conveniently placed for the West Cumbrian towns of St Bees, Ravenglass and Whitehaven and is perfectly placed for exploring the Lake District, including the beautiful valleys of Eskdale and Dunnerdale, and of course the fells and the coast line.

The property would be ideal for those with equestrian interests or for those looking to operate a smallholding.
