The World Heritage Site that is the Roman Wall is nearby with a fine example available at the Fort at Birdoswald. The A69 is within easy reach thus there are good communications for travel east to Newcastle (Newcastle Airport around 50 minutes by car) and west to the M6 motorway and Carlisle. There are two nearby market towns, Haltwhistle to the east and Brampton to the west. Both have a wide range of amenity.
